An insurance contract that does not respond to a claim is worthless.

No matter what the premium saving, contract certainty has to be the primary responsibility of the broker. Restrictions need to be brought to the attention of the policyholder and then systems introduced to ensure compliance with the terms of the policy.

At Peter Hattersley and Partners the claims services we provide are unique and amongst the best in the industry. We work with our clients on prevention, but if the unthinkable happens you can be sure that we will support you every step of the way.

Our claims administration procedures are tailor made for each client to ensure that they fit in with individual requirements. Routine claims can be sent direct to insurers electronically if this is the preferred route, but we do insist that every claim is also reported to us so that we can get involved immediately if a normal efficient settlement is not achieved.

Major claims require hands on involvement from the date of the incident until the settlement cheque has been banked and it is in this area the following services are provided:

  • Appointment of loss adjusters

  • Site attendance at initial meetings to assess the damage.

  • Full analysis of the policy to ensure that the claim is covered.

  • Negotiations on quantum.

  • Intervention and support in the event of breach of warranty or policy conditions.

  • Payments on account.

We collect data on all claims so that a complete risk profile of the individual client is available for use in connection with policy renewal and premium negotiation. In addition, we can organise and attend post loss surveys to ensure that requirements for risk improvements are sensible, avoid further loss and are implemented in the most cost-effective way.
