How many times have you heard "It's not what you know it's who you know that counts."
When it comes to insurance it could not be more true. As sales director of Unicoin Homes
plc, about 20 years ago I was given the unenviable task of "looking after" the group
insurance arrangements; a task that any sane person would have delegated to somebody
else immediately. Luckily I knew David Malone, now a partner at Peter Hattersley who
has always been on hand to get me out of trouble.
Over the years we have experienced everything from a kitchen unit mysteriously
falling onto an occupiers head to a forklift dropping roof trusses onto a group of
unsuspecting workers. On every occasion we have been covered. It is the same story
whether we want a building insured at the eleventh hour or we need to instigate a
professional indemnity claim because the stairs are too steep. Whatever the problem we
can rely on PHPL to come up with a solution.
Being residential property developers and builders we never know what the next site
will be or its location. One day it's an empty banana warehouse and the next it's a green
field location in a leafy suburb. More importantly perhaps we don't know where the next
claim might come from. Either way there will be specific risks where we need our insurance
broker to respond quickly, demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of our business and
translate this into cost-effective protection every time. This is what we get from Peter
Hattersley & Partners.
