Affinity groups often have insurance needs that are unique to the environment in which
they operate.
In most cases these needs are not catered for by the terms of a one size fits
all insurance policy and the required levels of protection are difficult to obtain.
At PHP we recognise that policy wordings which are cannibalised often provide little or
no protection against the true risks facing an industry and that the only solution is to work
with the industry to develop a bespoke wording that is fit for purpose. We start by acquiring
a detailed knowledge of what the group does, identifying the risks that these activities present
and negotiating with the market a policy which is unique to that group.
By way of an example we have recently launched a scheme for professional trainers that deals
with the exposure presented by teaching physical intervention skills. Often this group work with
national government organisations, local authorities and blue chip companies and they need to
have insurance cover that recognises the special contractual relationship that is created. Failure
to have the appropriate level of protection can be a barrier to obtaining work in the sector or
substantial individual loss if work is undertaken and the insurance policy is inappropriate in
its content.
Competitive premiums together with a contract which works are obtainable where the broker is
able to provide a detailed profile of the exposure of the group. At PHP we have the full range
of skills needed to provide solutions that are totally relevant to specific affinity groups and
we are always ready to work with trade associations and industry bodies in order to put these
schemes together for the benefit of the membership.
